SASSA will NEVER ask for payment to process your SRD application or request your banking details via SMS or phone calls. Do not share your OTP codes with anyone claiming to be from SASSA. Report suspicious activity to the SASSA fraud hotline.
The Independent Tribunal (ITSAA) has announced that appeal reviews may take up to 120 days due to increased application volumes.
Beneficiaries who have lodged appeals should expect processing times of 90-120 days instead of the usual 60-90 days. The tribunal is working to clear the backlog and all appeals will be reviewed.
SASSA has upgraded its WhatsApp service (082 046 8553) to provide more detailed status information and faster response times.
The improved WhatsApp service now provides payment dates, decline reasons, and next steps directly through the chat interface. Beneficiaries can also update basic details through WhatsApp.
SASSA has partnered with additional retailers to make Cash Send collection more accessible to beneficiaries across South Africa.
Cash Send is now available at all Shoprite, Checkers, Usave, Boxer, Pick n Pay stores nationwide. Beneficiaries will receive SMS notifications with voucher codes when payment is ready for collection.
SASSA will never ask for payment to process applications or request your banking PIN. Report scams immediately.
