Payment Processing Timeline
Application Review (Days 1-15)
SASSA reviews applications and verifies eligibility against various databases including Home Affairs, SARS, UIF, and NSFAS.
Approval & Payment Scheduling (Days 16-25)
Approved applications are assigned payment dates. Check your status online to see your specific payday.
Payment Processing (Days 27-30)
Payments are released to beneficiaries' bank accounts or made available via Cash Send.
Bank Clearing (2-3 Business Days)
Allow 2-3 business days for funds to reflect in your account after the payment date.

Permanent Social Grants Payment Dates
Unlike the SRD grant which has a payment window, permanent grants (Old Age, Disability, Child Support, Foster Care, Care Dependency, and Grant-in-Aid) have fixed payment dates each month.
Older Person's Grant
R2,190 per month
Paid: First week of month
For South African citizens or permanent residents aged 60 and above with limited income.
Disability Grant
R2,190 per month
Paid: First week of month
For persons aged 18-59 who are medically certified as unfit to work for more than 6 months.
Child Support Grant
R530 per child
Paid: First week of month
For primary caregivers of children under 18 years who meet the means test requirements.
Foster Care Grant
R1,180 per child
Paid: First week of month
For foster parents who have a court order for the foster care placement of a child.

Why don't I have a payment date yet?
Payment dates are assigned when your application is approved. If your status shows "Pending," wait for the review to complete. If approved, a payment date will be displayed in your status.
Can I choose my payment date?
No, payment dates are automatically assigned by SASSA based on their processing schedule. All approved beneficiaries receive payments within the scheduled payment window.
What if payment doesn't arrive on my payment date?
Bank transfers take 2-3 business days to clear. If payment hasn't arrived 5 business days after your payment date, contact SASSA on 0800 60 10 11.
Do payment dates change each month?
SRD payment windows are typically the last 3-4 days of each month. Permanent grants are paid in the first week. Exact dates may vary slightly month to month.
